Africa’s leading music and youth brand MTV Base has signed a major partnership deal with Google for the MTV Africa Music Awards Johannesburg 2016 - the continent’s premiere celebration of contemporary music and achievement.
For the first time ever, the Google partnership makes it possible for fans and viewers to vote for their favourite songs and acts directly from the Google website or app on Android or iOS, making it quicker and easier than ever for viewers to vote.
“Our viewers are online, on mobile, and engaged, and we believe this new voting option will provide a very accessible way for them to vote for their favourite MAMA nominees,” said Alex Okosi, Senior Vice President & Managing Director, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa. “We are excited about the partnership.”
During the voting window, fans will be able to vote for their favourite artists in categories including Best Group, Best Breakthrough Act, Song of the Year and Best International Act by simply searching “MTV MAMA” on Google, with each Google account allowed 5 votes per category per day.
